H22A2609-EditThe Hidden Worlds project is coming along slowly but surely. This afternoon, I took one of my bismuth crystals into the studio and took a few photos.

Earlier in the year, I posted a project for funding to Unfortunately, I did not find any one to buy into the project. This means that I am working at my own pace to complete the project in which I hope to self publish. Hidden Worlds is all about the limitations of our vision and our inability to see what is right in front of us. In short, it is a lot like not being able to the trees through the forest. This project is an attempt to take the viewer beyond the limits of our visions and into these ‘Hidden Worlds.’ The short description is that this is all about extreme macro photography.

I have heard time and time again that the Canon MPE-60, designed for macro photography,  is a difficult lens to master; I could not agree more. While this is a fantastic lens, it is a beast to work with. There is no focus ring on the lens; You focus by distance. This means that hand held shots are extremely difficult and long exposures are extremely hard to perform in a house that is over 100 years old and lacks stable floors. That being said, I may have to move this operation into the [I.F.] Studio where I have concrete floors. The attached photo was taken using a monopod to eliminate some movement while obtaining some control of focus.
